I just came across an online poker IQ test that I think is quite useful. I scored a little above average I hope to take it again in a couple of months and see if my score improves. There are about 50 scenario questions about how to play certain hands in certain situations. Here is the link:

Morrie,
Very interesting - thanks for the link. I would be interested to see how they actually compute this and what they call the "correct" answer. They asked several questions about flopping middle or bottom sets and how would you react to all-in reraises. It would give clues indicating that you should fold like, "The reraiser is a tight player who never bluffs". I'm sorry, but if you fold flopped sets on a rainbow board you really are losing a ton of value. An extremely tight player could easily be incorrectly slowplaying pocket Aces or another overpair. Harrington thinks "Idiot..." to himself when he hears great laydown stories or flopped sets.
This is a fun thing to try, but it reminds me too much of those hand polls on various websites that I feel often gives crummy advice. I was good enough to finish in the money in a ton of tournaments so far this year and am playing my best tournament poker ever, but not good enough to even be an "average" tournament player in their book. Of course, they never actually reveal the "answers" so perhaps I'm being too hard on them. If I keep winning, who cares what my IQ is? |

| I agree that the test is limited in value. It was fun to complete as an exercise. You're right, there is an inherent problem in any such test because poker decisions are always based on situational factors. Also, it is BS that they don't include the answers... You have no idea what the correct answer is. |

So...what were your IQ's?
Mine turned out to be 104. Better than 60% of the population. The only thing I scored extremely well in was decision making time because I did it at work. |
