I finally got to the stage where I'm consistently winning. I've lost a few deposits, spent hours reading articles on the internet, bought a few books but I'm finally churning out some money.
Playing the 0.12/0.25 NL on pacific at the moment. I probably play for 2-4 hours a day. Cashing out any profit I make at the end of the day. I'm usually making about $40-$50 a day which if I carry on at this rate will be boosting my income by a substantial amount. Only problem is I get so pleased with myself that I can't sleep at night because it is just after I slam my profit straight into my bank account and am going through the hands I played well etc. I hope it'll wear off as I get used to winning.
Another thing I think has helped is that I don't tilt anymore, it's a hard skill to do but I reckon you need to go on tilt a few times before you can conquer it. |

If you can, get pokertracker. It's a database which allows you to record your hands. For Pacific you need "handgrabber" also. It will significantly improve your play by allowing you to go over yourhands, analyze trends, learn about your positional play, etc. etc.
And not only does it help you learn about you...it tracks all the hands for people that you play with. If you're playing at one site, it's invaluable. |

Danny,
That's great news - congratulations!
While they may sound small, those .25 games can still make a nice extra profit on loose sites like Pacific. As you said, if you can consistently make $40-50 daily at those games you're well over an extra $1,000 a month doing something you enjoy from the comfort of your home. That sure beats an extra part-time job.
If you're always cashing out your night's winnings, just be sure to keep yourself adequately bankrolled for any extended bad runs. I often stick to a system of cashing out half of my winnings and leaving the other half to build my bankroll. No matter how comfortable you are with your stakes, every poker player has a desire to get into the proverbial bigger game.
Finally, you're certainly on the right track about going on tilt. While no one is immune from a mild case of it (I sound as though we're talking about an illness. I suppose on one hand, it is the equivalent of a really bad flu if we're sticking with poker being a microcosm of life), the basic key to winning at poker is minimizing your losses and maximizing your wins. If you don't stop playing when you're tilting, your bankroll might suffer damage that takes several days, or more, to recover from. |

I tried out poker office before but the live tracker caused some major lag on my computer. Although I can imagine the information is very useful, showing where your weaknesses are and also how your opponents play will be very useful.
As for building my bankroll I was thinking about that. At the moment I am sitting down with about 10% of my bankroll and I would like to keep it that way. Will look at keeping a proportion of my winnings in my account. Just getting annoyed at the long wait for each cash out to come into the back after its originally requested (about 10 days).
Also I've heard that after a while winning at pacific they take away your competition pts bonus? |

how about, cashing out 50% of your winnings, and saving the rest, so you can have a shot at some higher limits?
Just a thought. |
