I played a small 30 person Sit and Go tourney last night. We were down to the last 6, mainly because the large stack was knocking players out left right and centre.
He was unbeatable. He'd raise preflop almost everytime, and do it with anything at all: 10 2 or J 4 or 7 2.
One after another, the short stacks had gone all in, and lost to this guy. If a short stack had AK, this guy would call with 7 4, hit a pair of 7s, and win.
Blinds were still only 150/300. I was in early position with about 7000 chips against his 15,000. 6 players left, and I had to make the top 4 to win some money. I got J 10 offsuit and called the BB, probably more out of sheer frustration than anything else.
Large Stack raised to 600 immediately. I called, since I knew he raised with anything.
The flop was Q 8 9 rainbow.
Unbelievable! I flopped a straight. I was going to milk this guy.
I hesitated, then made a small timid 300 bet.
Large stack responded by raising to 1,600.
Great.
Now I hesitated a long time. Just as I was about to run out of time, I went all in.
He paused for a second, then called.
He had QK offsuit, giving him top pair. I had my straight, with no chance of him drawing a flush to beat it.
Ha ha!
Turn: K
River: K
Result: Larget Stack wins with KKKQQ full house. I'm out of the tourney.
There are a couple of ways he could have won the hand...
All runner-runner.
If a Q or K falls on the turn, he has 3 outs (K,K or Q), or a 3/42 chance to hit the other queen. That's a little over 7%
The only other way for him to win would be a J-10 falls and he picks up the nut straight.
Either way, you got your money ahead as a 97% favorite. You absolutely cannot ask for anything else : )
