What 2006 Has in Store for Poker
January
3, 2006 (written by Beat The Fish)
First of
all, "Happy New Year!" to all of
you. I hope that everyone has a
relaxing, peaceful, and healthy year
ahead of them. Oh, and that you get
to play poker at least half as much
as you want to. We'd like to take a
moment and thank all of you for
helping to make this a successful
project. Thanks for all of the
positive comments over our first 5
months of existence...
So, what
does 2006 have in store? In general,
I think that we will continue to see
the growth of poker on the whole. Of
course, popularity of new poker TV
shows is fading, but what did you
expect when so many networks tried
to over-saturate the market? Our
favorites will be back (along with
Celebrity Poker, unfortunately) and
will continue to draw decent enough
ratings to keep them alive.
The WSOP
Main Event will probably draw 8,000
players this year. Oy. Online poker
will continue to bring in a healthy
supply of fish for you to crush at
the tables. Phil Hellmuth and Mike
Matusow will continue to incessantly
spout at the mouth on TV. What did
you expect, Nostradamus?
So,
what's in store for us? We'll
continue to bring you updated poker
news, new original strategy
articles, and a few extra section
are up our sleeve. We hope to make a
forum successful and build a
thriving online poker community.
Thanks
again for your support and may you
always flop top full...
