WPTE and Travel Channel Agree to Air
PPT in Late 2006
February 1, 2006 (written by Beat The Fish)
After a
bitter battle that left WPTE (World
Poker Tour Enterprises) in the midst
of filing a lawsuit against The
Travel Channel, the two parties have
agreed that the Professional
Poker Tour will begin airing in
the Fall and Winter of 2006. The PPT
will feature 200 of the top names in
poker, and each player has to
qualify for a spot on the tour. The
first season's tournaments have
already been filmed.
The
Travel Channel, who airs the
World Poker Tour series, was
accused by WPTE of interfering with
them seeking out a deal with another
network to host the PPT. Since
they've reconciled their
differences, The Travel Channel
wants to air the PPT on Wednesday
nights sometime following the airing
of new WPT episodes. Very
interesting...
