With the
2005
WSOP Main Event consisting of
over 5,600 players it was easy to
pick out some of the top tournament
winners of 2005. Joseph Hachem, the
Australia-born champion, was the top
money winner of 2005 earning over
$7.5 million for his first place
finish. “Pass the sugar!” Steve
Dannenmann, the happy-go-lucky
second-place finisher, earned the
second spot by receiving over $4
million for his efforts. Heck, the
entire final table alone at this
year’s Main Event become
millionaires.
Phil Ivey earned much of his year’s
money at the Monte Carlo Millions
event that earned him almost $2
million. He is one of the most
consistent names in poker, showing
up at 5 major final tables. Tuan Lee
came in fourth despite only really
cashing in one event – his win at
the WPT Five-Star World Poker
