Poker Players and their Stories
♣
It's a
crazy world of poker these days. It
wasn't too long ago (say, 4 or 5
years) that even the top poker
players were relatively unknown
except to their peers and niche
cultists. There was no World Poker
Tour. There were no hole-card
cameras. Poker was only shown once a
year on ESPN and received terrible
ratings. There were only a handful of
$1 million tournaments. It's a dingy
thought compared to the glitziness
that poker, and its players, is
receiving today.
We now
live in a society where poker is
available online at a few clicks of
the mouse and is airing around the
clock on TV. Many professionals and
familiar poker faces have become
household names and now enjoy
celebrity-like status even away from
the poker table. All it takes is a
big tournament win to put unknown
everyday players into the annals of
poker immortality, endorsement
deals, and unthinkable prize money.
All of this for being good at cards.
Here we
aim to profile some of the best and
most well-known poker players in the
world. Click a player's name below
to read our biography on them as
well as major accomplishments in
their career. We plan to update this
section regularly as we write about
more players.
