JAVA POKER

Poker Rooms Supporting Java

Java Poker

While every online poker room offers a standalone Windows installable client, an instant in-browser option like Java poker can be extremely valuable. Firstly, Java poker allows online poker play, either for free or real money, from any computer with an internet browser and Java installed. As Java has become nearly ubiquitous in modern systems, this allows players to access games from public shared computers that would normally restrict installed software. Java poker rooms do not require an additional download to play.

Java-supported poker rooms also allow players to preview software without the hassle of going through an entire installation process and cluttering up your machine. Additionally, Java poker may be most useful for those with alternative operating systems like Mac or Linux that are not offered native software from the poker room. The majority of Java poker rooms offer identical functionality to the standalone software, including the same real-money or play-money cash games and tournaments.

Below you'll find a complete up-to-date listing of all Java poker rooms that support 100% browser-based no-download gameplay. We also describe both the pros and cons to playing online poker via Java, where US players are currently supported, and where to find this oft-hidden feature at each poker room.

Playing Online Poker Instantly with Java

Launching a Java poker client is a simple process once the dedicated Java page is found on the appropriate poker room. Inexplicable, instant-play options are rarely publicized but can still be found at the poker rooms below by following our instructions. Once the Java poker link is clicked, the application will automatically launch within the browser. Most likely, a prompt from Java will also confirm that you trust the poker room to run the application. Once loaded, both the graphics, features, cash games, and tournaments will be extremely similar, if not identical, to the standalone software client. While some advanced features and multi-tabling may not be available Java poker is a viable option for instantly playing real-money poker from any browser.

Poker rooms supporting Java instant-play

ABSOLUTE POKER (full review). From the Absolute Poker homepage scroll down the very bottom. The second-to-last header will be "Play Poker Online No Download Required". Click the link under that and then the big "Instant Play" button on the next page. That will instantly launch the Absolute Poker Java poker client and, after the resources are loaded, the lobby will be available to browse for cash games and tournaments. Even with our years of experience with the standalone software, it's difficult to see or feel a difference between it and the Absolute Poker Java poker option. Our new Absolute Poker Java players also receive an increased bonus of 150%. All US players are accepted for real-money play and direct checking account deposits are supported.

ULTIMATE BET (full review). This poker room is also on the CEREUS network and, thus, supports a very similar Java poker client. From the Ultimate Bet homepage find the grouping of horizontal navigation links above the copyright information. One of them on the middle line will be "Instant Play". Click this link and then the big "Instant Play" graphic on the following page to open up the Java poker client. Everything short of multitable play and some niche features that can be done on the Ultimate Bet downloadable software can be done on the Java client. All US players are accepted and our Ultimate Bet Java player bonus is currently 111%. Direct eCheck checking account deposits are also accepted from US players.

PARTY POKER (full review). While it is not available for US players, Party Poker is still one of the stronger choices overall and one of the few with a Java poker client. From the Party Poker homepage there is a small green "Instant Play" icon underneath the main graphics. Click this should immediately open the Party Poker Anywhere client in a new window. Party Poker is still one of the largest international poker rooms with a weaker-than-average player base and a busy tournament schedule. Our new Java Party Poker players receive a 100% bonus.
