Here we outline the winners of the Holy
Grail of poker: the
World Series of Poker
Main Event. It's had a $10,000 buy-in since the beginning and
No-Limit Hold'em has always been the game. If you win the Big One,
you become a poker immortal at the Horseshoe's Wall of Champions.
You also become the champion of poker, at least for a year. It originated with a handful of
players in 1970 and, in fact, didn't even start to award prize money
until the following year. In the last decade, the field and prize
money has skyrocketed. In 2011, the top prize is expected to again exceed
$9 million.
