World Series of Poker (WSOP) Winners and Prize Money

Here we outline the winners of the Holy Grail of poker - the World Series of Poker Main Event. It's had a $10,000 buy-in since the beginning and No-Limit Hold'em has always been the game. If you win the Big One, you become a poker immortal at the Horseshoe's Wall of Champions. You also become the champion of poker... at least for a year. It originated with a handful of players in 1970 and, in fact, didn't even start to award prize money until the following year. In the last 4 years, the field and prize money has skyrocketed. In 2006, the top prize is expected to exceed $10 million.
