PokerStars New Jersey Championship of Online Poker (NJCOOP) Returning for 2017

The arrival of PokerStars to New Jersey certainly changed the online poker climate in the state and in the US in general. While things are still miles away from what they used to be back when US players were able to participate in the global player pool, PokerStars NJ made some significant positive movements.

One of them is the PokerStars New Jersey Championship of Online Poker (NJCOOP). The competition was first introduced in 2016, and since it proved to be a success, the room decided to bring it back in 2017, which is good new for all poker fans in the States.

NJCOOP 2017 Featuring $1.2 Million in Guarantees

The second edition of NJCOOP will kick off on September 30 and it will last for a bit over two weeks, until October 16. There are 46 events taking place across the series, and PokerStars is guaranteeing $1.2 million in prizes. Of course, this guarantee is likely to be shattered.

One’s to watch for

In the rich tournament schedule, there is really something for everyone, but there are a few events that most players will not want to miss. First and foremost, there is the Main Event, taking place on October 15, featuring a $500 buy-in and $200,000 guaranteed prize pool.

The NJCOOP 2017 Main Event will be a two-day tournament, so it will pause on Saturday, October 15, and play down to the winner on Sunday.

There are also a couple of High Roller events. For Hold’em players, which is still a majority of players on PokerStars, the $1,000 High Roller tournament is scheduled for October 10. The guaranteed prize pool for this one is $80,000.

Pot Limit Omaha players can try their luck and prove their skills in the $500 High Roller, taking place a day before, on October. 9. Since a smaller number of participants is expected, PokerStars set the guarantee for this one at $30,000.

PokerStars bringing action to New Jersey

Players from the US don’t get a chance to play in big online tournament series that often any more, so NJCOOP 2017 will certainly be a great opportunity for many to get their grinding gear on and go after some of those attractive first places.

Daily Second Chance freerolls will be open to all players busting NJCOOP events without making money and will award tickets to other tournaments, including the Main Event.

Special $4 Spin & Go’s provide an opportunity to win Main Event tickets if you get lucky with the draw. The odds of the wheel stopping at the Main Event ticket are 1,850 in 1,000,000 or 1 in 540, which is a long shot, but certainly not impossible.
