Online poker players in New Jersey are in for a treat this autumn, as the World Poker Tour will host its inaugural WPT Online Borgata Poker Open. The $3,500 buy-in tournament will feature a $1 million guarantee, and is accessible to players on BetMGM Poker, Borgata Poker and partypoker NJ.
An Official WPT Main Event
Normally, poker tournament organizations host online events, they aren’t usually counted as “official£ tournaments. For example, in many WSOP online events, rings are awarded rather than bracelets. However, the Online Borgata Poker Open will be considered an actual WPT event, which means that the winner will have their named engraved on the Champions Cup.
Furthermore, this also means that players in this event will be able to earn points in the WPT’s Player of the Year competition. Landing yourself at the final table of this event will net you a hefty number of PotY points, so New Jersey players who are hoping to land themselves on the leaderboard might want to consider taking part.
New Jersey Players Only
Even though players on three different sites will be able to access the Online Borgata Poker Open, only players who are physically located in New Jersey can take part. So, this is something to bear in mind if you’re located elsewhere in the United States.
However, there are plenty of other tournaments being hosted by BetMGM in the coming weeks that are worth checking out. In Pennsylvania and Michigan, the site is hosting a series that runs from August 15th to August 22nd – with $220,000 in guarantees.
Qualifiers Available
If your bankroll isn’t quite big enough to support a $3,500 buy-in, not to worry. In the weeks leading up to the big event, you’ll be able to take part in qualifiers that will provide you with the chance to play in the Online Borgata Poker Open.
The sites hosting the events have yet to announce exactly what satellites and qualifiers will be available, but partypoker NJ has stated that satellites will begin at $5 and a freeroll tournament will also be available.
