With the addition of Caesars Online Casino, Pennsylvania now has a total of nine online casinos. The Caesars Online Casino officially launched in the state on April 23, as sports remains shut down. As the country and world continue to battle the coronavirus, online gaming around the world continues to be a distraction and a welcome escape for shuttered citizens.
Twelve of the state’s casinos were ordered to shut down in March, and the losses are staggering, leaving employees laid off or furloughed. Some are standing in long food lines for the first time in their lives.
Caesars Online Casino has been in a partnership with Harrah’s of Philadelphia for quite some time, and that is what made the new online casino possible. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, which oversees gambling and sports betting in the state, released numbers from online gaming last week.
Despite the nationwide shutdowns, online gaming thrived with very impressive numbers. Online casino revenue in the state was up more than 24% for March over February’s final numbers.
Customer Service Reps All Working Remotely During Shutdown
Representatives for Caesars Online Gaming operations are all working remotely. A rep for the team said on Saturday that the launch on April 23 was a very soft launch.
However, two days later, the online portal for Caesars Online Casino was available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The program that Caesars Online PA is allowable through Scientific Games.
Thus far, the Caesars Online Casino has 12 different games, but a Caesars team member said that more games would be added throughout 2020. Caesars Online is also operational in nearby New Jersey, as they currently offer players 500 different games.
The Caesars Online PA is not expected to have that many games, and one reason for that is that Pennsylvania has a much smaller market than the Garden State does. All online gaming in Pennsylvania is done through the PlayPennsylvania.com portal.
They will oversee the library for Caesars Online Casino and are expected to add more slots, table games, and online poker. There were three online casinos that launched right before the Super Bowl in January. The three casinos that launched during that period were, BetAmerica, Unibet and BetRivers, with Caesars Online PA the first online casino to launch since then.
Caesars iGaming Platform Available On All Mobile Devices
Pa.caesarsonline.com is another way to access the Caesars Online Casino. It’s also available on Android devices. The rules set forth by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board mandate that all sportsbooks that launch in the state must do so as a soft launch, with limited hours at first.
It is considered a testing period. Pennsylvania is the only state currently that has that rule in place for sportsbooks. WSOP.com, which is the World Series Of Poker, is currently active on the Caesars New Jersey platform and is expected to be up and running in Pennsylvania later this year.
According to a source at Caesars Online Casino that expansion into the Keystone State has been in the works for a while, and launched about a week later than originally planned due in part to a limited number of staff members due to the pandemic. But other than that, everything else proceeded as planned.
After just a few days of it being completely active, it’s doing very well according to early results. A source said that there are plans in place for Caesars Online Casino to launch in Colorado sometime after sports betting starts there on May 1.
