Budweiser and WPT Launch Celebrity Poker Challenge for Charity

ClubWPT and Budweiser have launched a celebrity charity poker tournament series that raises funds for the World Central Kitchen.

The World Poker Tour and Budweiser have come together to launch another celebrity charity poker tournament. The new King’s Celebrity Poker Challenge will raise $125,000 each episode for the World Central Kitchen, with all sorts of stars competing live on Twitch.

This is just one of many recent celebrity poker tournaments that have taken place lately, including PokerStarsCall For Action and partypoker’s Keep The Lights On. It’s great to see so many poker operators bringing people together to support causes that help those struggling amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

Watch Actors and Athletes Compete on the Felt

Over the course of the series, celebrities from all walks of fame will be playing against one another on ClubWPT. On the first episode, the following stars will be competing:

  • Jon Hamm
  • Jason Alexander
  • Paul Gasol
  • Kevin Pollak
  • Jose Andres
  • Kelly Slater

“With the World Poker Tour, we’ve assembled a cast of characters for a charity game for some light hearted fun and to make a positive impact by spotlighting the great work of World Central Kitchen” – Monica Rustgi, Budweiser’s Vice President of Marketing.

The online event will be feature Tony Dunst and Vince Van Patten as commentators, as well as Lynn Gilmartin presenting. So, if you’re a fan of watching World Poker Tour events, you’ll see some familiar faces.

About World Central Kitchen

World Central Kitchen was founded ten years ago by José Andrés with the goal of create “smart solutions to hunter and poverty”. The organization is currently running the #ChefsforAmerica campaign which safely distributes fresh, individually packed meals to families in need of support. As part of this campaign, the World Central Kitchen has purchased over 1 million meals from local restaurants, and delivered them to seniors, healthcare workers and other individuals in need.

Budweiser will be donating $15,000 on behalf of every player that competes in The King’s Celebrity Poker Challenge. An additional $35,000 will be donated in the name of the event’s winner, which means that over $125,000 will be given to the World Central Kitchen.

How To Watch

To watch the first episode of The King’s Celebrity Poker Challenge, you’ll have to tune in to Twitch on Thursday, May 28 at 5pm (Pacific Time).
