High Stakes Poker Championship Returns to Borgata in January 2023

BetMGM Borgata High Stakes Poker Championship
The High Stakes Poker Championship returns to Atlantic City’s Borgata, with some very interesting formats, including bounty and survivor tournaments.

The High Stakes Poker Championship will return to the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in January 2023. Across the course of a week starting January 2nd, four high roller events will be held with million-dollar prize pools up for grabs. This is the first time the event will be held since the pandemic started in 2019, so it will make for an incredibly exciting event.

Mystery and Borgata Bounty Tournaments

A brand-new event will be introduced during the High Stakes Poker Championship with the Mystery Bounty tournament making its debut. This will be a $2,200 buy-in event and $1 million in bounties will be awarded over the course of the tournament. The top bounty is worth a huge $250,000.

Like all bounty poker tournaments, this event awards a prize to each player who eliminates another competitor. Where this differs from other bounties is that there is no set amount on each player’s head. Instead, anyone who eliminates another player will receive an envelope with a mystery amount of cash inside.

A more traditional Bounty Event will take place from January 6th to January 8th. So, if you’re not one for surprises, then this is one may be more appealing to you. It also features a lower buy-in of $1,00.

Super Survivor Tournament

The Super Survivor event is one that players will be pretty familiar with on the tournament circuit. In this event, levels are relatively short and play only continues until 10% of the field remains. These players are the Super Survivors and will receive an even split of the prize pool.

Championship Event

The Championship Event’s starting flights will take place on January 4th and 5th with its final table being held on January 8th. The buy-in for the event is $5,300 and features a $3 million guaranteed prize pool. $1 million is guaranteed for the winner of the event, with no adjustments to the payout structure.

In the months leading up to the High Stakes Poker Championship, players can win entry online. Qualifiers will be held on BetMGM in states where the site is active, with affordable buy-ins so players with a variety of bankrolls can join in the action.

“The return of championship poker to Borgata is a long time coming. Borgata is the premier gaming destination on the East Coast, which includes best-in-class poker tournaments.” – Vince Alonge Jr, Head of Poker Operations at Borgata.

Will you be taking part in the BetMGM High Stakes Poker Championship at Borgata next year? It’s going to be a thrilling event, with plenty of fun tournament variants that you don’t often see in high roller events.
