Mansion Poker Referral Code for $1,000 bonus: FISHBONUS

Overview:  4.5/5

Mansion Poker received their initial boom from sponsoring the Fox Sports series, "MansionPoker.net Poker Dome Challenge" in which 6 combatants play speed poker under an onslaught of concert lighting. Our new agreement with this site allows you to receive a 100% bonus (up to $1,000) and play in several satellite tournaments for the show each week for 1 cent. Even though this site is just starting out, I think that they have the right idea in terms of simple software and virtually all tournaments are cash-added events.

The competition tends to be fairly weak as the bulk of new players will be interested in wake of the FSN series and have little poker experience. Overall, I've been impressed with Mansion Poker because of the large deposit bonus, unique software, and the cash-added tournaments.

Bonus (100% up to $1,000) and Promotions:   4.5/5

For a deposit bonus, this site is offering our visitors a full 100% bonus match, good on deposits up to $1,000. Be sure to use any of our links to Mansion Poker to ensure that you receive the full 100%. You work it off by earning "Mansion Club Points", which are dispersed according to the rake at the table. Obviously, you'll earn more at higher-limit tables, but they do give points to everyone involved in the hand. You also earn a 50% bonus on two future deposits, which is a nice extra if you were going to reload anyway.

In terms of other promotions, we've recently acquired the ability to offer players 5 shots every week at qualifying for the Mansion Poker Poker Dome series aired weekly on FSN. You'll need to use referral code FISHBONUS to qualify for the offer. The buy-in is either free or 1 cent for the qualifiers, which is actually quite generous. Usually, satellites to live events have a hefty buy-in so it's nice to be able to qualify essentially for free. The 1 cent requirement filters out freeloaders and limits the number of participants. If you've made a deposit from our site, you'll be set to go.

Typically, you'll only need to best 100-200 players for the $7,000 Poker Dome seat. The grand prize for the live tournament is $1,000,000. Besides that, they're offering $10,000 freerolls on weekends and other $200-500 added events throughout the week, also with .01 buy-ins.

Fish:   3.5/5

The traffic is still growing at Mansion Poker with, naturally, the peak times coming in the afternoon and early evening. I usually play no-limit cash games and tournaments, but I dabbled in a couple of Limit Hold'em tables to get an idea of the competition here. So far, the full tables have been a mixture of weak players and complete fish, thus rationalizing my 3.5 Fish Rating.

You'll usually run into a couple of clueless players at the table who seem to mistake middle pair for the absolute nuts. As I mentioned above, I expect that much of the player base here followed the Poker Dome TV show to the site and TV exposure is usually a recipe for a fish soufflé. Overall, the games seem pretty beatable with mostly new poker players populating the tables.

Tournaments:   3.5/5

The main tournament interest at Mansion Poker is qualifying for a seat at the televised Poker Dome series. Through our site, you can play multiple satellites (5 weekly) for 1 cent in which the winner gets a $7,000 entry package to the Las Vegas tournament. The winner of each 6-person table wins $25,000 and the overall TV series winner receives $1,000,000.

The other tournament choices are limited as Mansion Poker is still trying to build traffic, however they have some interesting low-stakes events for now. They basically run multi-table tournaments every hour or two with most of them having some sort of cash added to the prize pool by the poker room.

Mansion Poker has unique tournament choices such as a 1 cent buy-in tournaments but they add $500. Another example would be a $5 tourney with $200 added. The cash-added structure gives you a substantial prize pool overlay on a sometimes miniscule buy-in. You have a decent shot at finishing in the money as these events typically draw less than 100 players. This won't become your main site for tournaments, but it's fun to try out some of these wacky cash-added tourneys.

Software:   4.5/5

I give Mansion Poker a good score for its software because of its simple effectiveness without a lot of frills. They're running on their own network and they've created their own original software, which I always appreciate more than skins. The table graphics and colors are an attractive burgundy and tan, with the card graphics being fairly sizable and easy to read.

Another unique software feature is the obvious spotlight over a player when it is his turn to act. The lobby is also simple and easy to navigate. In terms of game speed, full ring games are currently running at between 50-60 hands per hour - a comfortably quick pace.

Payouts:  4.5/5

Most new sites understand the importance of a swift payout and Mansion Poker seems to have gone with the industry standard processing times. Using NETeller, I've received payouts within about 18-24 hours.

Customer Service  5/5

I give them a top score in this category because they offer telephone support in several countries and live chat support. I always respect the ability to contact a company immediately if I have any questions or issues that need resolving.

Player Traffic

Currently, player traffic is best at Mansion Poker at about mid-day. During peak hours, you can usually find a few .50/$1 or $1/2 No-Limit full cash games going on or a $3/6 Fixed-Limit game that often lasts through the night. Tournaments seem to have a bit more of a draw here with their most popular events bringing in 100-200 players.

Best Features

Ability to win a Poker Dome seat for 1 cent. This is the only site used to qualify and their satellite system is less stringent than other sites.

Cash-added tournaments. With few players, the prize pool is often decent anyway.

Original software. The graphics are sharp and game speed is quick.

A name reminiscent of my favorite Disneyland ride with a Gothic font to boot (which, of course, has no relevance in a poker review).

Game Selection: Hold 'em, Omaha, Stud

Limits: Limit: 50c/$1 up to $10/$20    No-Limit: 10c/20c up to $200/$400

Deposit Methods: NETeller, EcoCard, Nexum ACH (eCheck), MoneyBookers, major credit cards, checks, and Money Orders.

Minimum Deposit: $20

Tips: As Mansion Poker tends to attract less-than-seasoned online poker players looking to qualify for the TV tournament, I'd like to remind you not to be overly concerned with mixing up your basic online poker strategy methods with advanced plays. Well thought out, savvy, strategically advanced moves simply aren't valuable at loose online poker tables. In fact, you'll probably lose EV by making those traps that you've read about in poker strategy books or watched your favorite pro make on TV.

For the most part, online poker players aren't extremely attentive, meaning that they're less susceptible to tricky gear-changing traps. The smartest play online is usually to play a solid, conservative game and allow your opponents to hang themselves with their own mistakes. While that may not be the recipe for massive no limit success at a cardroom or in a major tournament, it certainly can make you a comfortable profit at weak online poker sites like Mansion Poker.
