Visit Celeb
Poker

Overview:
3.5/5
Celeb Poker
is a growing poker site on a popular network with terrible
competition all the way up to the higher limits. While they have
plenty of U.S. Dollar tables, this site is a good choice for
international players because of the number of Euro, Pound, and
other currency tables. The "Celeb" part of their name ties in with
their theme of sponsoring semi-celebrity-status actors and sports
professionals - mostly from Europe.
The
Celeb Poker
software is unique and
they are also introducing a large deposit bonus for new players.
However, the best draw from this site is the huge amount of bad
players who regularly risk their money on mediocre cards.
Unfortunately, we're dropping this site's score for not accepting US
players.
Bonus (100%
up to $100) and Promotions:
3/5
The actual bonus offered from
Celeb Poker
is pretty generous at 100% up to $100. You should note that the
standard bonus from them is only 25% right now, so you'll have to
use a link from our site to qualify for the 100% bonus.
Larger players with a bankroll
can earn this promotion fairly quickly. However, the bonus terms
require a fair amount of raked hands to clear each $10 of bonus
money so small-stakes players probably won't earn the full amount.
They've also added a few $250 and $1,000 freerolls to their
tournament schedule and you'll need to qualify via their daily
events to be eligible. This site offers daily guaranteed
tournaments at mid-level buy-ins.
Fish:

4.5/5
Not only is the competition extremely
loose at Celeb
Poker, but they're probably some of the worst online. I mostly
attribute this to the large amount of sportsbook players on the
network from other sites. Flop
percentages typically hover around 45-60% at the higher
limits! It's absolutely amazing how poor the play is from many of
these players with a sizeable bankroll.
If you can protect against
the regular draws, you can expect to build your bankroll pretty
quickly against the
Celeb Poker
competition. Since you usually want to be
playing the opposite style of the rest of the table, you should
tighten up and play strong cards from the proper position. As pots
usually grow quickly, you can play at a smaller blind-level, play
less hands, and still expect a sizeable hourly win rate. I recommend
that you start out at a smaller game than you typically would in
order to get used to the wild style of play. Overall, the poor
competition is one of the main reasons to play here.
Tournaments:
3.5/5
The best part of the tournaments is the wide range
in buy-ins, which helps to give beginners or limited bankrolls
a shot at playing multi-table events. Because they're on a large
sportsbook network, the traffic is pretty good. Most of the
Celeb Poker
tournaments fill up well with at least 80-100 entrants for popular
events at mid-level buy-ins. They also host some nice guaranteed
events daily with $10, $20, and $30 buy-ins. They've also begun to
offer more satellite tourneys for big live events.
Since the traffic
is still growing on this network, you can benefit from the lack of
competition in the satellite events. Finally, CP has started hosting
weekly $250 and $1,000 freerolls for qualifiers of their daily
events. It's an interesting freeroll structure, which rewards
players for repeat performances.
Software:
3.5/5
While the lobby can become easily
cluttered, I give
Celeb Poker
credit for creating an original software package. The table and
background graphics are sharp yet feel somewhat awkward. They do
give a visual timer for each player's actions in order to speed up
the games but game speed usually only averages about 40-55 hands per
hour.
You also won't find much in term of hand statistics and
history. While it lacks advanced features, overall the software is
pretty playable and it does feel
different than most of the generic software out right now. Draw
poker players will find those wild international players
willing to play some pot-limit 5-card-draw.
Payouts:
4/5
As
Celeb Poker is on a
financially-secure poker network, payouts seem to be handled well.
The average time for my NETeller withdrawals was about 24-36 hours.
Customer Service:
4.5/5
This site gets high marks because of
their extensive telephone support. While you can get a pretty speedy
response from their e-mail department, I appreciate the ability to
call the poker room directly if I have an immediate concern.
Player Traffic
Again,
Celeb Poker
is on a fairly popular network mostly built around international
sportsbooks so the traffic is pretty high at all times of the day.
They have multiple currencies for international players but the U.S.
Dollar tables seem to fill up most. Tournament traffic is also
middle of the pack.
Best Features
Very bad players. Trailing somewhere
just behind
Pacific Poker, this site is a haven for fishy players and trash
hands.
High flop percentage. Even at
higher limits, this can often reach 50-60%.
Good deposit bonus. If you can take
advantage of it by playing regularly here, the 200% bonus is quite
generous.
Game Selection: Hold'em,
Stud, 5 Card Draw
Limits: 5c/10c up to
$50/$100
Deposit Methods:
NETeller, Firepay, Delta,
Web Dollar, wire transfers, checks, and major credit cards.
Tips: Often, you'll
run into a difficult situation on the flop with A-K at a wild site
like Celeb
Poker. Even with your standard pre-flop raise of 4x the big
blind, players will still stay in with Ace-anything. Normally, a
flop of A-8-4 would be very strong for your hand. Unfortunately, you
always have to be cautious at this site when you only flop one pair
with Big Slick. Hands such as A-8, A-4, and 4-4 have you dominated
at this point, and even though you would have easily folded these
hands preflop to a raise, weak calling stations on this site don't
have your discipline.
You should lead out on this flop with a bet,
but you should reconsider your hand if you run into a big raise from
a player who just smooth-called you pre-flop. I would call a 2x
raise and and check on the turn. While you'll usually have the best
hand, this isn't a good hand to get reraised for all your chips.
It's tough to do, but you'll need to consider releasing this hand if
you run into too much pressure - especially from multiple opponents.
